The good brush

This week we had to do a few Pretotypes either alone or as a team and one of the ideas that came to my mind was a Toothbrush with a timer.

Dentists around the world struggle with patients that do not brush their teeth properly which makes us come with an idea of a toothbrush with a 2min timer for a successful cleansing.

Hypothesis

After you eat a meal or snack that contains sugar, the bacteria in plaque produce acids that attack tooth enamel. Eventually, the acid can break down tooth enamel, causing cavities. Plaque that isn't removed can also harden into tartar, making it harder to keep teeth clean. Tartar buildup on your gums leads to inflammation that causes gum disease. Having a toothbrush that gets you through the 2min cleansing will help prevent this.

Experiment Description

A totally normal toothbrush with a timer of 2min and a button on the bottom. After pressing the button, the timer goes off and after the time goes by, a little buzzer will beep to notice that you are done.

Validation

The hypothesis is accepted because the time displayed by the dentist is a fair short time anyone should be brushing their teeth and sometimes the perception of time can be distorted by a random emotion you are going through and this buzzer at the end of the timer will make sure you finished successfully.

Results

We can continue with the project since it has a deliberate way to make the user realize he has been through the whole 2min and has done a proper tooth brushing.
